This is the first time for Aluna characteristically involving herself in a performance in Venice Biennale. “Missy Butterfly” in the form of video art attended “Back to Childhood——BIENNALE ARTE 2019 58th International Art Exhibition (China Special Exhibition)”, at Castello 780.

“Missy Butterfly” continued the element of indigo dye, the Chinese intangible cultural heritage with an exaggeration of butterfly wings wearing by the little girls. Winged missies were flying and playing at Piazza San Marco. Aluna in indigo dyed clothing accompanied them at dusk through the dawn. The day before sunrise and the day after sunset symbolise a life dating from the childhood. They witnessed the departing of the vessel, the drifting of Gondola, the fluttering of doves and seagulls......Reality and illusion, freedom and confinement, the shallow and the deep, gone away and coming back, the east and the east, tradition and contemporary......Butterfly symbolises Change, the pupa could transform into the fly, the missy would turn into the madame, the world is fused in change......

The three butterfly missies are volunteers from Germany and Italy, Cecilia Zheng, Yolanda Ma and Constance Circelli. They are all born in the west but have Chinese ethics. The participation of them also displayed an aspect of the fusion of the world. They were gaming and mingled with the environment, playing and interacting with the world. Back to the childhood, it is still a fine tale.

Aluna also presented her work “Madame Butterfly”, “Transformation” and “Little Black Clouds” in the form of book.
